ABOUT AKARSHIKA SHARMA: A Young Leader Committed to People-Centric Governance
Akarshika Sharma is an emerging political leader and grassroots public representative serving as the Municipal Councillor of Ward No. 60, Harilok, Haridwar Nagar Nigam, Uttarakhand, since January 2025.
Her journey in public life is driven by a commitment to responsive governance, civic development, social empowerment and meaningful citizen participation. She believes that leadership is not only about representing people but also about listening to them, understanding their concerns and working collectively towards sustainable solutions.
Before entering public life
Akarshika Sharma worked as a Cabin Crew member with Vistara Airlines, an experience that helped her develop strong communication, leadership, teamwork and crisis-management skills. She holds an MBA in Human Resources and is a graduate in Political Science, bringing together academic understanding and professional experience with her commitment to public service.
She also serves as the State President of the Youth & Community Empowerment Council, WICCI, where she works on initiatives related to women’s empowerment, youth engagement, sanitation, hygiene, financial literacy and community development.

Her public-service priorities include better civic infrastructure, healthcare awareness, sanitation, environmental conservation, women’s empowerment, youth development and cultural heritage promotion.grassroots democratic transformation.

Her vision is to contribute towards a cleaner, healthier, safer and more progressive Haridwar where civic infrastructure is strengthened, public services become more responsive and citizens are encouraged to actively participate in local governance.
She believes that true development goes beyond roads and infrastructure. It includes healthy families, empowered women, skilled youth, environmentally conscious communities and preservation of cultural identity.
